If you are interested in acquiring a plug-in hybrid vehicle, Green Car Reports has compiled a list of them with the longest range, and also a list of those with the shortest range. For 2020, the range champ is the BMW i3 with Range Extender, rocking an impressive 126 miles before the 647cc scooter engine kicks in to keep you moving. The vehicle with the least range available before its gas engine takes over is the Mercedes-Benz GLC350e 4Matic. Offering a paltry 10 miles of EV only range, unless you’re running the climate control, then expect only single digit electric range. Having driven the BMW i3 both with and without the range extender, I have nothing but nice things to say about it. Prices on used examples have come down quite a bit, making them quite attractive. 2017 and newer models feature a larger battery and increased range, versus the 2016 and older models.
