Mini Cooper SE Revealed Today
The BMW Group pulled the wraps off of the all-electric Mini Cooper SE today. On paper it’s underwhelming. 184 hp. Acceleration from 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds. 32.6 kWh t-shaped lithium-ion battery that can fast direct-current charge at up to 50 kW. Range of 146-167 miles. 2 levels of brake regeneration.
The 0-60 time and the range are competitive with last year’s Nissan Leaf, however they pail in comparison to the new Nissan Leaf Plus, and the two-year old Chevrolet Bolt. It is however, quite a looker, and I’m sure will find some buyers that are either Mini loyalist, or just dig the looks. It would be a great garage mate for the equally underwhelming Mini Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 plug-in hybrid.
Honestly, I’ve always found the Mini Cooper line to be charming. I will probably try and buy one in a few years, as a used car at half (or less) of it’s sticker price.
