DC Fast Charging in Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids has it’s first non-Tesla DC fast charger for travelers! I’m actually not sure how long Grand Rapids has had a DC fast charging station. I just happened to discover it by accident as I was running errands this week. I will say that as I am writing this, it doesn’t appear on the PlugShare app, so it may be fairly new. Chargepoint has 2 dual CCS/CHAdeMO stations installed at the Meijer Gas Station at 3030 Walker Ave NW. There are also 4 Tesla Superchargers at the same location. I love when chargers are located at places with restrooms and snacks available 24 hours/day. That was one thing I missed on my trip to and from Chicago. Two of my charging stops were located at business that closed at 9pm, and I happened to stop at both after they had closed for the evening. Not a big deal, as I was still able to charge, but rather than stretch my legs, I just sat in the car, and made an additional stop before getting back on the highway. I hope that the addition of DC fast chargers along I-96 helps you road trip in your EV. Enjoy!
