Jeep Begins Plug-In-Hybrid Wrangler Production
There are very few plug-in-hybrid vehicles we get excited about here at the ElectricMitten. The reason for this is that, by and large, full electric vehicles have evolved to a point where the gasoline back up is unnecessary. One of the rare exceptions to our disinterest in PHEVs is the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler is an icon, and Wrangler owners are slow to accept change in their vehicle of choice. In the 80s, the adoption of square-headlights almost caused a mutiny of the Jeep faithful. Also, more than any other SUV that I can think of, they actually get driven off road. Often far from civilization. For those reasons, we are happy to see the plug socket arrive on the front left fender of the Wrangler. Talking to some Jeep owners I know, they like the idea of commuting all week long gas free, but still having that go anywhere option on the weekend. So for them, and for those of you interested, Jeep Wrangler 4XE production has begun, and the vehicles should be available in the first quarter of 2021.
