The Journey South - My Family Car Road Trip 2013

In a fit of irony that I couldn't have scripted, we were exactly 20 miles into our journey before we heard the first "are we there yet?", it was an omen. Our eldest child probably found 30 distinct ways to ask, never using the same verbiage twice. In preparation for this, we had planned to make at least one stop per day on our way south. Our first day's stop was at the Botanical Conservatory of Fort Wayne. www.botanicalconservatory.org The conservatory is made up of three indoor, and two outdoor gardens, and several connecting areas. The indoor gardens include a tropical garden with banana, orange, and chocolate trees, and a desert garden with several variety of cacti. The showcase garden is changed seasonally, and during our visit had a jungle theme, complete with a hut for the kids to play in and around. The outdoor gardens were open, but weren't in bloom, due to the weather. The Botanical Conservatory of Fort Wayne is an affordable and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
