VW to discontinue Routan
Automotive News is reporting that Volkswagen will stop selling the Routan minivan (based heavily on the Chrysler Town & Country/ Dodge Grand Caravan) due to slow sales. Apparently, VW has sold less than 60,000 total, since being introduced in 2008. For reference, the Chrysler vans with which it shares an assembly line sell around double that amount per year. Speculation would appear to favor that the Routan will be replaced by a three row crossover similar in spirit to the VW CrossBlue concept from this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
