Saturday Surge - September 4, 2021
Today’s Surge is longer than usual, in an attempt to (hopefully) tide you over for an extra day. The ElectricMitten is closed for business on Monday in observance of the holiday weekend! However you may be enjoy your time off, please be safe.
Each week, we run across many stories that we’d love to share, but often run out of time to do so. To make sure that you don’t miss out, we round up some of them here for your viewing/reading/listening pleasure on Saturdays.
Surging this week: We have started a support campaign on Patreon! Please do not feel obligated to contribute. If you would like to though, the funds will be used to offset our running costs, and to expand our coverage into new mediums. Elon Musk discussed Tesla’s upcoming $25,000 car that will slot below the Model 3, and it won’t be called the Model 2. Lotus has teased an all electric future beyond the Evija hypercar. The Detroit Free Press has some Q&A time with General Motors over the Chevrolet Bolt recall. Both the Rivian R1T truck and R1S SUV get an EPA rated range exceeding 300 miles on their mid-level battery packs. Genesis won’t introduce any new gas or diesel powered cars after 2025, and will stop selling them completely by 2030. Tesla would like to see the next generation Roadster in customer driveways in 2023, assuming next year goes more smoothly than this year. Subaru has released some more details on the Toyota bZ4X, I mean the Solterra, which looks almost identical to its Toyota sibling. The Tesla Cybertruck has officially been delayed, giving me more time to save up for mine. And finally, we got up close and personal with a GMC Hummer EV prototype in a random parking ramp in our hometown, and just wanted to get to say that again. Enjoy!
