MKBHD Checks Out F-150 Lightning, Finds Range is Better than Quoted

Marques Brownlee, otherwise known as MKBHD, was given early access to a Ford F-150 Lightning all electric pickup truck, and has posted a video of his impressions of the truck. Brownlee is a long-time Tesla owner, and as such is very familiar with EVs. He comes away very impressed by the Ford F-150 Lightning, calling it the most important EV launch of the year. I agree with him. Be sure to watch for some of the interior features he points out, this truck maybe a better office than my actual office, lol!

Based on his time with the truck, he suspects the announced range is conservative. In the video he mentions that at 80% charge, the vehicle is showing a range of over 360 miles remaining. Where as the EPA estimate for the Lighting with the extended battery is only 300 miles total. He discovers that the EPA range was tested with an additional 1,000 pounds of payload onboard. The truck he had for the day was unburdened. By reverse engineering the remaining range, he arrives at a potential range over 400 miles. In a later video, he corrects his math and concludes that a fully charged and unladen Ford F-150 Lightning should travel over 380 miles. That is incredible! I think Ford may have hit the nail on the head with this truck.
