Hemmings - 1960 Henney Killowatt
I love looking for automotive oddities on Hemmings.com. Today’s treat is a 1969 Henney Killowatt I found there last night. The Killowatt was built on a Renault Dauphine “glider” chassis, and was manufactured by the National Union Electric Company. Check out the Wikipedia page for this interesting car here. $9,000, negotiable, if anyone is interested. If you do buy it, and live in the midwest, drop us a line, we’d love to see it in person!
Seller’s Description:
Very rare (1st sold of the 43 Henney Kilowatt electric cars manufactured) running 1960 Henney Kilowatt. If you are not familiar with this car please go to Wikipedia for the story. This is my 2nd Henney, the 1st was sold and shipped to Germany. Search YouTube for "1st and 2nd Henney";. Both of the cars are on a video. The first Video is of the car that I am offering for sale; obviously, the other is the car in Germany.
Because of my involvement with these 2 automobiles and having access to the total archives (approximately 3-400 documents, sales, engineering, costing, etc). I by accident am an authority on this rare and foolish attempt to have the "people" drive electric cars!!! Hitler named his people's car Volkswagen this could have been called "Voltswagon". The first production run was to be 100, 43 were produced!!!!!!
