BMW i8 Roadster is newest FIA Formula E Safety Car

As if getting to drive the Formula E Safety Car wasn’t cool enough, now it’s topless! The transition to safety car from i8 roadster street car involved the addition of an FIA approved roll bar, a massive rear wing, a light bar mounted up high, and a cut down speedster-style windshield. The stock drivetrain was left exactly the way it left the factory. The new car got its first use at last weekends Monaco E-Prix.
