Geneva 2019 - smart ForEase+ Concept
The smart ForEase+ Concept appears to largely be a repaint and freshening of the ForEase(no plus) Concept from last fall. Despite being a sequel, I think the new color scheme looks great, and I love the speedster vibe it gives off. To be fair, a topless smart ForTwo is hardly a tough sell for me, I think I’ve test driven every used one that I’ve been aware of in my area. Far sportier looking than the standard ForTwo Cabrio thanks to those big rims, and notched steering wheel, this is definitely just for show. As much as I would love to see something like this hit production, it’s doubtful at best. For the last week or so, there has been a grey cloud hanging over the smart brand. That cloud went away today as it was announced that the Chinese company Geely just purchased 50% of the smart brand from Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler. What that means for smart in the US is too soon to tell, but as long as they keep making smart cars, there’s a chance we may see them in the US. As it stands today, Michigan residents have to buy them in Illinois or Ohio anyway, as the one Michigan based smart dealer no longer carries the brand. If you see a smart ForTwo Electric Drive on a used car lot, take it for a spin, they are a hoot!
