NAIAS 2019 - GM Electrovair II

On display in the GM World Exhibit in the Renaissance Center, is the 1965 Chevrolet Electrovair II Concept! In 1966 dollars, the silver-zinc batteries that powered this car were over $150,000. The Electrovair II could go between 40-80 miles on a charge with a top speed of 80 mph, and would do 0-60 in 16 seconds, about the same as a standard Corvair. In addition to my photos, I am including a promotional movie from the 60s produced by General Motors about this car. What a treat to see this vehicle in person! If you’re by the RenCen, definitely check it out!

This promotional film details the engineering features and technological advancements of the Electrovair II, an electrically-powered version of the second generation Chevrolet Corvair built by General Motors Research Laboratories as it tours the Technical Center campus in Warren, Michigan. http://gmheritagecenter.com/gm-vehicle-collection/vehicle-videos/electrovair2.html
