NAIAS 2018
This weekend was the kickoff of the 2018 installation of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS for short). Held each year at Cobo Center in Detroit, MI, there is a lot to see and do at this year's show. We will be breaking up our coverage throughout the week. This post is a hodgepodge of cool, non-electric vehicle images. The rest of our posts will be laid out by manufacturer, showcasing all of the vehicles on the show floor that plug-in. There are some notable exceptions that must be mentioned. Volvo and Mitsubishi were represented by their local dealer groups, rather than by the manufacturers, and they did not display any electric vehicles. Mini and Porsche were not represented at all. Ford stole the show this year with the unveiling of the original 1968 Mustang that Steve McQueen drove in the movie classic "Bullitt". One of the more clever tie-ins involves an homage to the movie starring Steve McQueen's grand-daughter. If you are up for the wait, you can film your own 60 second version of the video posted below in the back corner of the Ford display. Also worth a mention is the tribute to the recently departed Dan Gurney added to the 2019 Ford GT on display, that is painted to match the car in which he won LeMans. If you are going to the show, have a great time, and plan on spending between $20-$30 to park. Please enjoy the two galleries below.
