ollo clip - Product Review
We received our ollo clip unit for review at the end of March, and have been shooting with it since. In fact, the ollo clip's first assignment was to accompany us on our spring break road trip. Our initial impressions were that the combination of modern smart phone camera plus the three additional lenses provided by the device would not have us wanting for our point and shoot digital camera. And we were correct. For comparison's sake we brought both on our trip, and never found an instance where the suitably enhanced phone's camera wasn't sufficient. In most instances, the phone's camera was the superior choice, as we could then share our photos instantly. In addition, as we are not able to zoom when shooting video with our phones, the ollo clip was the only choice for shooting crisp video from a distance. As would be expected, as it is a lens only, we did not experience a decrease in battery life or any change in phone performance while using the ollo clip.
In our time reviewing the ollo clip the only negative we stumbled upon was, that use of the clip resulted in the peeling of our screen protector from the top right corner of our phone screen. I question the necessity of screen protectors anyway, so the loss of a protector was not a deal breaker. In addition, I use a simple rubber bumper for my phone which must be removed to use the ollo clip, merely an annoyance, but one that ollo clip is looking to remedy with their new quick-flip case. We hope to be able to review one in the future, as they are accepting pre-orders at this time.
The clip arrived with a small pouch for carrying duties when not attached to our phone. Overall, a terrific product that we consider to be a great addition to our gear/diaper bag! Many thanks to ollo clip for providing us with a unit for review!
