2022 Chicago Auto Show

2022 Chicago Auto Show

February means it’s time for this year’s edition of the 2022 Chicago Auto Show! The show opens to the public this Saturday, but I have a sneak-peak for you here from media day! There are a lot of EVs on display, but even more exciting, there are several that you can ride in! I got to experience the Camp Jeep obstacle course from the front passenger seat of a Wrangler Rubicon 4XE. After that, I was riding shotgun for an acceleration run in a Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance. Once I had all my thrill seeking wants fulfilled, I was chauffeured around a small indoor track in a BMW iX, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6. The drive was too brief to even begin to render an opinion on any of them, but I have to say, that I cannot wait to have another go in both the Hyundai and the KIA, they are very attractive in person. This year’s Chicago Auto Show is definitely smaller than in years past, but with all of the interactive opportunities, it is still very relevant. My favorite concept was easily the Chevrolet Silverado EV. It is everything I could want in a truck. The pass through feature from the bed to the rear seat is exceptionally cool. Ford brought the F-100 Eluminator resto-mod from last Fall’s SEMA show. KIA has the EV9 three-row crossover concept on their display, and it is a very compelling package as well. It was also great to get up close and personal with the Nissan Ariya and the Subaru Solterra. The entire Subara display is incredibly cool, I especially appreciated the display panel flooring that changed with the background. I am posting a ton of my photos from the show for viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
